Apple Maps — Gesture-controlled Version

Apple Maps — Gesture-controlled version is a re-creation of Apple Maps. Users can interact with Apple Maps in an intuitive and simple way while driving through a set of well-defined gestures.

Users can interact with Apple Maps from a distance without touching the screen or any buttons. When users are driving, tapping the screen with their fingers to adjust the map is very inconvenient and dangerous. In this version of Apple Maps, users can use hand gestures to control their navigation while driving.

Design Goal

This project aims to design a gestural interface for an app that allows the user to control the app using gestures. And to produce a gestural language that is learnable via an app that also teaches the user how to use gestures.

The Final Product

This Apple Maps — Gesture-controlled Version includes onboarding, adjusting the view or direction of the navigation, zooming out the navigation, turning up the volume of the navigation, and backing to fixed view. Users can simply interact with these features of the navigation through their hand gestures.

Onboarding

Give users a general understanding of this gesture-controlled version of Apple Maps and teach them some basic gestures to use the app.

Task 1 - Adjusting the view or direction of the navigation

The user can rotate the hand to the left to adjust the view or direction of navigation.

Task 2 - Zoom out the navigation

The user can pinch two fingers together to zoom out the navigation.

Task 3 - Turn up the volume of the navigation

The user can hold out the hand, palm facing upward, and move the hand upward to turn up the volume of the navigation.

Task 4 - Back to fixed view

The user can hold out the hand, palm facing outward, then make a fist to back to the fixed view.
